I would propose buying good quality headphones designed for listening of music and separate microphone than headset for PC.
Your budget seems to be enough also for that.
AKG and Beyerdynamic are also brands worth to check.
From http://www.thomann.de/ you can find a good selection of headphones from different makers.

1st look at what you want with your headset. If you want to listen to music and have the best quality then go for Kuka's option.
If you want to use it mainly as gaming headset then you need to think about stereo, 5.1 or 7.1.
IMO usb headset is ok for stereo sound but if you want real surround you need to go back to oldschool jack plugs and a descent soundcard.
Best combination in my 10+ years experience of gaming and reseller of game gear is the combination Soundblaster XFI fatality and Speedlink Medusa 5.1 with external amplifier. (they dont
make that headset anymore tho)

Then there is also the Zalman 5.1 gaming headset that I use atm. I use this one over 3 years and it just wont break so I can buy a new one.

If necessary we can arrange a mechanical failure of sorts at LZ9, overdose of cabbage? :p

I'll check what i'm using and comment later, don't know it by heart...

if you want to push the boat out and if you have a soundcard for it to run through, you need a 7.1 soundcard for 7.1 mode
I wanted that headset soo much, it looks awesome. I have heard people say that there is no need for that many speakers as we only have two ears. But still it looks boss!

The one i want now is this: http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/pc-headsets/ear-force-z-seven/341
Its got a place to plug your phone in so you can answer calls with the same headset as you play with :D
Its only just above the price bracket stated, but there is an added problem of trying to get it somewhere other than in the states (and also its not out yet...)

I have to say that the sound quality of my Steelseries 7H was amazing, however will never get one again due to the connectors making a very poor contact around the headband, if they make one that doesn't disassemble into 3 pieces then i will reconsider.

anyway thats just my opinion :)

i have the sennheiser PC 360. i find it to be good for overall use.
i like the microphone. It's abuse proof :) And the headphones fitt nicely without any discomfort. It also allows to still hear everthing that's happening around you. That's great when the kids think you can't hear them :)

Let us know what you decide.
