2014 marks the 10th anniversary of the FFF Lanzone, to emphasize this special occasion this years Lanzone will be held in Belgium. Everybody who has been to a Lanzone knows that FFF stands up for it's name: Fun is plenty Friends are all around and Fairplay is somewhat out the door ("Stop looking at my screen!" - "what have you done to my mouse, you C***" are just one of many battle cries that may be heard).

After many hours of searching a location which can be adapted to the 'special' needs of FFF has been found. Below some details:

Location: De nieuwe Deure - Izegemse aardweg - 8800 Beveren Roeselare - BELGIUM

Important practical Information:
  • +/- 2 miles from nearest train station (Roeselare)
  • 2 medium sized grocery stores within 1 mile radius (Carrefour Express, Aldi)
  • Chips & Hamburger at the corner of the road (0.25 miles)
  • Pizza Delivery services within range
  • a lot of parking spaces just outside the front door
4 commercial airports can be of use:
  • Lille-Lesquin - France (Bus to Lille trainway station which has trains to belgium)
  • Brussels Zaventem – Belgium (fairly easy to reach with public transport)
  • Charleroi Airport – Belgium (Brussels South)
  • Oostende - Belgium
If you can get to Kortrijk or Brugge with the EUROSTAR or other trains, you're only one train away to getting to our venue!

The price per person will be £35 (excluding food and drinks and other activities - gasmasks and cabbages not included) and we need a minimum of 24 attending gamers.
Prices include showers, use of kitchen + accesories, toilets, tables and chairs, … and include a private internet line (rented for the occasion).
T-shirt or VIP-packages will be announced when dates have been confirmed.

Date has been confirmed for:
  • 23-24-25 May 2014
Places are limited and reservations are on a "first come, first served" basis. Payment will have to be done by Paypal to my account (details will be posted once the date has been decided).

I hope we can get a lot of (new) people to come and off course I hope to see a lot of the familiar ones as well! If you have any questions about whatsoever, ask below or send me a PM!

IMPORTANT UPDATE (1/feb/2014):

I've received an e-mail from the owner this morning stating that the venue has been double booked for the weekend we were planning on getting it. Since the other organisation is one they work with frequently... we're getting screwed.

We have 2 possibilities at this point: either change the date of our LZX or look for another venue (which is available on the date we set). The venue owner has informed me that they ARE still available on the weekend of the 23rd, 24th, 25th of May 2014. 2 weeks prior to what we planned at this time.

I leave it up to you to choose what suits you best as I am not sure how many people have already booked flights/boats and if they can be cancelled/altered. If we choose to change the date and people that have already paid cannot make it, you'll get your money back!

If any of our Belgian/Dutch members know of a location we can hold our LZX, let me know by PM!

There's no way I could go via plane, my PC alone would be twice the baggage allowance, let alone the monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.

If anyone else is in, my plan is to car it over on the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge and drive from there, though obviously to make it worthwhile it's gotta be four of us doing it :)

Just got a quote online and for four people traveling in one car (I have access to a large estate car), it'd be £250 return, so £50 each. The only difficulty is the length of the journey. It'd basically mean that we'd need to leave on the evening of the 5th at 18:30, get to Zeebrugge for 9:30am, the venue is only 30mins - 1 hour away from Zeebrugge and Bruges is between the two so we'd maybe chill there for a few hours In Bruges on the day of the 6th.

The problem, of course, is it's gonna mean more travelling time and more time off work or whatever, but I'm certainly up for it.

Shaft.

Edit: I've just seen that the venue is also right near Westvleteren too! Gonna get me some Westvleteren 12 from the awesome trappist monks there :)

Hugo and I always go with Dover - Calais Ferry. You'll need to drive larger distances but i think it's cheaper and faster. We left in friday noon to get to Liverpool on Friday night. Maybe you can check that out as well
