So I upgraded the shoutbox on the front page last night to a new one. This has a few extra features including the ability to use forum BB code links to style your text, insert images etc. into the shoutbox.
The front page version of it displays 15 shouts at a time. But don't worry if you think you've missed some shouts, you can view the last 75 or so shouts by visiting the dedicated shout box page. Click the link in the navigation bar at the top to find it.
You can also edit your shouts, just hover over the left hand edge of your shout and a drop down box will appear allowing you to edit and delete your shouts. See the image below.
