New Feature [Nov 21, 2012] Live Chat Event - Testers needed (FFFSquad.com)

I've agreed to test a new mod that someone is working on whereby threads get updated in realtime when you're viewing it and someone else replies to the thread, which means you don't have to refresh the page to see the reply. Essentially it makes every thread a very powerful chatbox.

I would appreciate it if as many people as possible could log on at the same time at 8.30pm tonight to partake in the test 'Live Chat Thread' to try and find any bugs.

We can chat about any random nonsense you like, cabbages, spammers, Dave's dog, whatever. The idea is to get lots of people posting to test it out and potentially try and break it so that any bugs can be fixed.

I'm going to run a test for the next couple of days on set every single thread on the site to act like a live thread. So they should automatically update if someone posts in the thread while you're viewing it - kind of like the way Facebook does.

Sorry mate, i would have taken part if i knew about it. I have noticed the loading thing appear in the top right lots though. so i guess it might be refreshing lots

No worries mate, it was a last minute thing that I posted up to test it. Maybe I'll arrange another proper chat session later in the week to give it a real burn in.

But yes, the spinny loading bar is currently set to check for new posts in a thread every 5 seconds. That would probably kill the server on a big site, but hopefully it should be okay on here
