Anyone else get that annoying 'You are using an outdated browser' box at the top of the webby on every visit ?

No matter how many times I cancel it I get it on every page.

You're probably using an outdated browser then.

I'm guessing your using IE8 or below?

If you are you should upgrade to IE9, or preferably Firefox 7 or Google Chrome (then you don't have to worry about updating your browser again as it does it automatically).

The old browsers don't use the latest web standards and therefore do not display all sites correctly or the way in for which they're intended. IE is particularly shocking and slow to update itself to these standards so until IE10 comes out, unless there's a really good reason you need to using IE on your PC I'd recommend upgrading to Chrome or FF.

It will improve your internet experience for lots of sites if you upgrade.

PS. I know it probably seems like I 'knew' the answer but I just assumed the banner would be a show once type of thing and should go away once I dismissed it u see ;)

Yeah, I could look into changing to so that it only displays once, however if I'd done that you'd probably have never asked or bothered to upgrade.

I don't mean to come across as 'You must upgrade to this or this just for the sake of it', but IE (in it's current state) really is an awful browser from a developers point of view, and people using it are doing themselves a disservice because all of the fancy new browser effects implemented in newer builds can't be seen in old browsers. Even though IE9 is the latest, it's still waaaay behind the likes of Chrome, FF and Safari. Plus, IE9 isn't even available to Windows XP users

Chrome is great because you don't even have to worry about updating it, when a new version comes out you get it without even having to think about it. I'm not sure if FF does the same too now.

For anyone that needs IE for corporate systems that were designed to be used in IE, then fair enough or if you need IE for any specific purpose. But for a home PC where you do casual browsing and media-centric web browsing then I can't recommend highly enough trying to get to comfortable with Chrome or FF instead, as sites improve you'll be able to view them all in their full glory. IE will only hold you back :)
