To Bunny Hopping or not?

Hello Everybody

I have a little question about 'Bunny Hopping'. Just to make sure and avoid flames about it: I'm not pro bunny hopping. I know I have been caught jumping in/on a fountain while under fire but there was an obstacle there ;-)

Anyway, what i wanted to ask: Does the following situation classify under Bunny Hopping or not?

Let's say that in the map Havana our main character is on the right side of the street and is initiating to cross the street. Enemies notice him and start shooting (but miss). Our hero notices and starts sprinting across the street to the left side of the street to avoid fire and take cover. When reaching the other side he dives through a window or over some other obstacle.

Technically this is jumping under fire to avoid damage/deaths but is however a realistic maneouver and way better than stopping in the middle of the street to return fire (especially when facing multiple enemies) when not near or behind cover...

just interested in your opinions

To be honest Red these rules are from TRL that we will be using, we are just going to use common sense as i know that none of the guys from both clans do not bunny hop.

The comments and flames in trl forums about this go on for about 90/12 years so i understand what your saying, but for me i would not deem this as a bunny hop.

IMO diving to take cover should be OK. Jumping to avoid fire and jumping round corners is where the !kick lies.

What about diving to prone under fire and then returning fire as soon as you hit the deck and making a kill, this to me is jumping under fire and has happened to me a few times.

Though it is a 'normal' procedure irl to hit the deck and return fire, depending on where you are when it happens of course ;-)

The difference in my opinion is if you jump then you can continue to fire, if you do a run dive you cannot fire until you recover from your dive. I think everyone of us has looked like we have bunny hopped at one point or another as we jump up onto something and start to fire when we see an enemy. Some maps even throw you up on certain spots, like the tail of the blackbird on hanger18 map, if you are running up the access ramp.

I think most people are sensible enough to realise that a vast majority of time it is a victim of circumstance as opposed to somebody deliberately bunny hopping.

For me the biggest one is the jump from around a blind corner that peeves me, closely followed by the dive to prone while firing but thats just because my reactions are that slow I cant do it miself.



Jumping onto,off or through obstacles is fine IMO but the corner one is just a deliberate ploy.

Dolphins and bunnies should have an upside down christmas tree rammed up their jacksie its not in the spirit and its lame and anyone doing it should be made to look at my wife when she wakes up in a morning.

IMO I've gotta agree with Shooter and Kitch...diving takes you out of the game while in the air so is different to bunny hopping whilst continually shooting at your target.
