I don't know much about 4G but I imagine the ping would be pretty bad even if the download speeds are alright?

Depends on the coverage at the site too, does it have good signal strength?

How would the connection cope with 20 PC's connected to it trying to access the net as opposed to one phone or laptop?

Is the data capped on the dongle or unlimited?

The ping on a 4G connection I got in London was >150ms to a UK server. I'm not sure what it would be like for connecting to online games. Also is the venue in a 4G area?

For games such as COD4 and TS it would be fine as you can connect to LAN games. As for Ghosts etc I think all the traffic has to go through the internet.

Does the venue not have an ADSL connection? If not 4G might be the only option. I suspect you'll struggle to get an ADSL connection if Belgium is anything like UK ISPs as they require you to sign a contract usually a minimum of 12 months otherwise it gets MEGA expensive.

What buildings are near the venue? Would it be possible to use their internet and bring a massive Ethernet cable?

Does the building not have high speed internet? Surely that's kind of a pretty big requirement when scouting a location for a LAN party? o_O

Hey peeps,

We are having a bit of an issue with the fundings since we don't have the 24 participants that we counted on for the costs of venue, internet and other.

However there is an alternative solution that we want to offer:

Trinny and I can host the lan in our backyard. Its big enough and we can rent a couple of big party tents. 8x4m. one for sleeping and one for gaming.
We would have to rent tables and chairs but it would bring the costs way down and it would all fit in the budget that we have now.
We have water, power and high speed cable internet speedtest.JPG

However this option depends on two things:
1. you guys have to agree on it. We know a tent hasn't got the comfort as the other venue.
2. The other venue has to be cancelled without any extra costs.

We would appreciate your feedback on this asap as we need to make fast descisions. Renting tents and cancelling venue...

Can we have a bouncy castle as well?

Wont it be a bit chilly to camp in May?

If we stay at the venue and we get the net sorted, with the shortfall in players we are looking at around £30 per head extra, or swap locations to Hugos Bed....oops garden.... Need to know asap what we are gonna do guys.....
